Krimhild's revenge takes place in seven songs. To atone for Siegfried's death, she agrees to marry Etzel, king of the Huns. When she gives him an heir to the throne, the Burgundians are invited. But the feast serves Krimhild's plan for revenge: Because King Gunther, his brothers and their allies are loyal to Hagen Tronje, murder breaks out, at the end of which all those involved and the Nibelung treasure pe rish.
